Abshir Removes Presidential Billboards in Mogadishu
Yesterday I completely removed my candidacy billboards in the capital City of Mogadishu, Somalia.
The country has been plunged into darkness and the rights of our people and the constitution are being trampled on and the hopes of Somalia getting back on its feet are shattered.
The ex president of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has created a triangle strategy with his allies. Himself, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in Ethiopia and President Isaias Afewerki in Eritrea have organised a military coup and kidnapped our people, homeland and shattered the hope of peace for my people. These attempts will have serious implications for the entire Horn of Africa. May God protect us.
I will return my billboards when the dictator Farmajo leaves the country. If any Somali is harmed or shedding Somali blood in this coup, I will do my best to go to the international courts and human rights organisations. Let me be clear, I have not withdrawn my candidacy - I have been waiting for Farmajo to use the ballot instead of the bullet since the 8th February.
I call on all candidates, politicians and the public to refrain from fighting the three-pronged attack on our people, our country and our flag. All Somalis have one shared dream: for our nation to find peace again so we can get on with our lives.
