Abshir Ferro Calls for Unity in Somalia

I have launched a political peace building process that is gaining momentum within Somalia, the Diaspora and international community to overcome the current political crisis in the country.

I removed all my campaign billboards in Mogadishu on April 22, 2021. They will return when our electoral process makes the interests of the people our number 1 priority.

I am calling for peace talks with the regional administrations, presidential candidates and Farmajo, to come together to discuss differences with those for whom differences persist.

I am willing to provide the platform for open dialogue in a peaceful manner that can lead to long lasting peace and unity to both the traditional and political solutions that unite Greater Somalia. I am also ready to open dialogue with Al-Shabab, as long as our discussions are based on being part of the solution, not part of the challenge.

We must be compassionate to our people, our country and our flag. Politicians must live up to their people's representation, as they have sworn the Kitab for our better future. I urge leaders to think twice about the mobilisation of military forces which goes against their responsibilities for peace.

Today, I propose an urgent peace and reconciliation step forward to the regional administrations, parties, politicians and Farmajo. We must regain the trust in our political system, and once a leader is fairly elected, give them our full support for the good of Somalia and the Horn of Africa.
